I have a 1996 Zetor 8540 and it's engine has four glow plugs. It starts easily even at under -10 celsius. This tractor also has old type front axle and I have not bad thing to say about it. :)

I think that rubber and M8 is clutch axle brake lever. It is supposed to work when you press clutch pedal as far as it goes. This is to make it easier and faster to engage gear. I believe that it should be adjusted so that when clutch pedal is down it presses that rubber.

Where are timing marks on this type of Zetor? On flywheel or somewhere else and what is the correct timing? Thanks

Yes. New spare part shaft has threads but not the one that has been installed to my Zetor. UPDATE I got the shaft out. I had to weld a piece of bolt to the end of the shaft and then pulled it out. :D

If I remember correctly noise gets quieter or goes away, especially when tractor has just been started and oils are cold. At low idle you can't almost hear the noise but if RPMs are increased to about 1000 its quite loud.
