  1. 5711, no first gear.

I only got 20 minutes in the tractor today but it seems that the gearstick is bent. The gearstick have never clicked into the three positions when moving left-right but when I mounted the stick 60-70 degrees rotated so that it didn't touch the slot in the dashboard, all 6 gears were available...
  2. 5711, no first gear.

Thanks nikki. The second "bolt" from right is the right one. Tried to force the detent rod (which I called "shift fork") forwards but it only moved a couple of millimeters, backwards it moved to the next slot (about 3 centimeters). I removed the gearstick and the cover where the gearstick...
  3. 5711, no first gear.

My 1978 5711 have no first gear, have never had it in the few years I have owned it and for my use, I have never missed it. Now I'm about to sell it and would like to do a repair if it can be easily done. Reverse and all other gears work fine but when moving the stick to left, it will not move...
  4. New 7245 owner

Then the pictures are gone... I just had an idea that they might be of some help due to the way Frank asked...
  5. New 7245 owner

Are the two identical levers like those with a yellow band on this picture: If so, my previous post should be fairly close (but I'm not familiar with other Zetors than my 5711...).
  6. New 7245 owner

If it is similar to my 5711 it is like this: The right lever is the hand/parking brake. The left is the clutch for pto and hydraulics. To engage the hydraulic pump and/or pto, you need to pull the left lever and select what you want enabled with the selector handle in the bottom edge of this...
  7. 9641 poor starter

You MAY have an air leak in the diesel system. If you replace the return pipe with a transparent hose, you would easily see if there are air in the diesel. It is easy to do and may eliminate some problems. There should be absolutely NO air in the return pipe when the engine is running.
  8. 8145 power steering and radiator problem

When you don't use any force on the steering wheel, there are close to zero pressure, the oil is only circulating in the whole system. When applying force to the steering wheel, the pressure builds up, I don't know the Zetor specs but something like 60-70 bar is quite common. On my 5711, there...
  9. 8145 power steering and radiator problem

A little bit more on my power steering here.
  10. 8145 power steering and radiator problem

If you have a traditional power steering, I may have a tip: on my 5711, the power steering was exactly like you describe. In my power steering oil tank, the return oil were coming in to the tank in an odd pulsating way and not a steady stream as it is supposed to do. The problem was the shaft...
  11. Very weak brakes on a 5711

Thanks. I drove about 300 meters in third gear and made a lot of smoke today. Works far better already 8)
  12. Very weak brakes on a 5711

I changed the shoes as well. Cleaned the drums very well. If I have damaged the simmerring, I don't think the oil would do any harm so far since the tractor almost haven't been moved and the oil level is far below the simmerring. Both sides seems equally bad...
  13. Very weak brakes on a 5711

You're absolutely right, Grumpy, very little rust and dirt. Previous owner did a good job with the renovation of the tractor. He bought it more or less like a wreck 7-8 years ago. I think I have to use very much power on the brake pedal and think it's a bit strange compared to the hand brake...
  14. Very weak brakes on a 5711

Brake job finished. It all took about 12-13 hours but now ALL brake parts are brand new 8) Needed new copper washers on the bolts on the outlet side of the master cylinders as it obviously is not 100% aligned. The old washers were slightly misformed and didn't seal at all. Anyone who knows what...
  15. Very weak brakes on a 5711

The rear wall/window is home-made by previous owner but looks great. I would believe it was original unless told otherwise... The brake problem was leaking slave cylinder. In the brake house, I dug out almost 1/2 litre of various sludge from brake fluid, oil, leafs and a couple of spruce...
  16. Very weak brakes on a 5711

If the cab was delivered with the tractor from the factory, the model number should be something like 5718? The nameplate states 5711c. Found this nameplate on the cab.
  17. Very weak brakes on a 5711

I have no clue which cab it is but it looks great.
  18. Very weak brakes on a 5711

One side ready for cleaning... When lifting the cabin a few cm, the bracket on the other side was easy to remove. I'm considering to remove the inner side of the U-profile because that is the one that causes problems and I don't see what use there is for it. The cabin is quite a bit smaller...
  19. Very weak brakes on a 5711

The crane took the better part of an hour to assemble and is very useful for the brake job. Got it all apart yesterday. Lots of cleaning to be done today. I think I have used about 2.5 hours so far. Were struggeling a bit with the bracket for the cabin until I found out that I had to remove...
  20. Very weak brakes on a 5711

Started the job yesterday evening. After slightly more than one hour, I needed the crane (bought the one I linked to) and started unpacking it. Lots of parts were missing, there have to be two boxes and I only got one... All bolts, wheels and some other parts were missing... So far, it seems to...
