The slave was releasing all the way, as far as I could tell.
I was able to "mask" the problem and get it working by grinding a 1/4 inch off the end of the shaft. it works perfectly now, but I wouldn't say its "fixed" just symptom masked.

I have an older 6245. The clutch won't completly disengage. I blead the master and the slave cyl. I have good pedal tension. When I depress the pedal I see the clutch linkage move. Even when full released, there still seems to be a lot of tension on the clevis fork between the linkage...
