HI THE COLD START BUTTON ON MY 3045 IS STUCK IN,I CANNOT GET IT TO POP BACK OUT,CAN I UNDO THE LARGE NUT ON THE FRONT OF THE PUMP THAT THE BUTTON SITS IN AND FREE IT FROM THE INSIDE, REGARDS DOCTORBIG.

We had that on the 4712. Grab the end with pliers and spray lotsa WD40 or other rust solvent on it. That will help it.

If you search the other side of the nut with a little nail (the type you hit with hammer;)) there should be a little hole to give the button some oil (you can also use the nail to push it out)

Hi I have had a good look today and there is no hole on the other side of the nut to push the button back out ,I have tried to free the button but it is stuck fast, would it be safe to drill a small hole in the nut and push the button out, Regards Doctorbig.

We've had that too. Dont go drilling any holes, just use WD40 or similar every time you go near it and tap it gently with a copper or other soft hammer and eventually it will move and come out. It may take weeks.

Or use a stick welder on low amperage, so the stick sticks to the button. Then turn off the power immediately.
Now you've got yourself a pulling rod attached to the button.

This method was used to take out the end of a broken halfshaft on Diamond trucks that were used by cable laying companies from the post war period untill the early 80's

The button on My 3545 has a hole:(
There is nothing wrong with drilling a hole, there is nothing to leak-out because the button is sealed. You dont even need a drill, the metal is soft so a little nail or chisel will make a hole.
