hi,
basically i had two injector pumps, on one of them a piston had seized and on the other the centrifugal/flywheel thingy had seized, both due to running dry i suspect.
Anyway i have made good what i have and but in the process i removed the bolt which connects the internal throttle "arm" to the "rack" which runs behind the injector pistons. Sorry if i havent explained this very well but i dont know what you would call all the bits!
Anyway i am unsure where to set the bolt and dont even know if it would make a difference at all? there is about 20mm of thread and a nut to lock it off.
if i put it back approx where i think it was will that do or does this have to be super precise?
Also, where the excess fuel button is i have taken that off the pump body, so same question there, does it matter where this is put back to?
Many thanks in advance, i am hoping to get her running soon, ready for baling in the summer!!
still seeking advice on this issue, someone must know if this is going to affect the pump. its kinda holding me up now and i dont want to put the pump back on and bugger the engine i just rebuilt.
Cheers
Chris
If you mean the connecting link between the governor and the rack, set it so that the rack is at fuel shut off when the throttle lever is fully slow, I'm not familiar with the internals of the pump as fitted to your tractor, but its important with a tractor that stops with the throttle lever that the rack goes to its fully closed end.
The excess fuel button needs adjusting after you have it running so that there is just a little dark smoke when you open the throttle sharply. you will not gain much by creating a plume of black smoke. but if it's not open far enough the tractor will be gutless.
hope this helps a bit
Dave
Many thanks Dave, thats put my mind at ease. I wasn't familier with the internals of these pumps either until i took one to bits! Still it needed doing as like i say both pumps were ceased in some way.
Anyway, i'll post when shes running for the first time!
Hi again!
i just bolted the pump back on and noticed that the mounting holes are slotted, i assume this is for fine tuning the timing? how critical is it and how would you go about doing this?
to be honest im a bit gutted coz i just got the rad and all waterways sorted, filled it with water and there is a leak in the one of the heads in the injector tube. so more work!
Thanks again in advance,
Chris
