3320 Needs Wider Front Tires

Our soil tends to be very heavy clay. We get about 150 CM (60 inches) of rain per year. The rain is often torrential, completely saturating the soil. Our 3320 now has a home made front end loader. Even before the additional weight of the loader it was very easy to sink the tractor to the front axles.

- Has anyone on the list changed the standard 6.50-16 front tires with something wider? If so - how wide?

- What width tires can I put on these rims or do I need to get wider rims?

This is the first winter we've had the front end loader on the tractor and this problem is making the tractor nearly useless.

On these rims, you cannot mount any tire that solves your problem, it would only add a droplet on a red hot stove...

I think your 3320 has the smaller front axle, which will not fit front wheels of the bigger 4 cylinders unless you mount them with the rims to the inside.
Just check that, i dont know if the 3320 has the same front axle as the 1974 4712 so it might have changed these years..

You will need bigger rims anyways so just take a good size implement tire. Preferrably with a much larger diameter as well, because this greatly reduces rolling resistance when the field is boggy.

You could also get a highway truck axle with SuperSingle trailer tires. This will give you a front axle that is unbreakable (at least 8 ton capacity) and 40 cm wide tires.

Ask From tyre shop, but 7.50 - 16 could be possible. It wount help much anyway. There is larger tyre size as optional but i dont remember size. Ask it from Zetor sparepart dealer.

Update to this and a previous post: I needed wider front tires after building a front end loader for my 3320. In addition I needed to replace a tire on the front that kept blowing out even with minimal load. I could not find better tires locally. Yesterday I found a gentleman who sells used tires that come off of jet airplanes. I purchase two tires that are 10X16. These replace the 6.5X16. The new tires were mounted on rims painted the stock Zetor wheel color, and were filled with foam. The rims bolted on without difficulty. The tires are 14 ply and are rated at 19,000 pounds each (8,600KG) and top speed of 190 MPH (306KM/HR).

I doubt that my 3320 will go over 150MPH (240 KM/HR) with the front end loader .:p

The price was not cheap at $150.00 per tire but that included the tire on the rim and pre-filled with foam.

Tony,
10x16 should give you some floatation... To how much inflkation pressure does the foam correspond ?

I checked them and they were at 40 Pounds per Inch2 - (I don't know how that translates).

just type in the google search bar: 40 psi in bar
It says it's 2,75 bar :)
