Hello everyone.
I have TWO questions that I need help on please.
3340 with 980 hours.

1-It is difficult to get into reverse or 1st.
Not bad when cold but gets harder as it worms up.
Seems like clutch is not releasing 100%. Gears grind a bit.
Tractor doesn't jump when it does go in gear. So it might be early stage of clutch wearing out. Owners instruction manual says there is no clutch adjustment. IS THAT TRUE !! no adjustment?
2- Parts book says there are 11 inch and 12 inch clutches, is there a way to know which size is installed before splitting tractor?
Any help is appreciated.

Hi
If Your cluchplate was wearing out it would slip not drag however if the release bering is worn it will drag, the same will happend if there is air the hyd line so first you shold try bleeding the system. To determin what cluth you have is dificuld unless you can aksess data from faktory, but normaly the bigger cluth were used in the biger models(53xx-73xx).

You still have to adjust the clutch pressure fingers through the side hatch for play.

Also check the master cylinder, most of them have been replaced by better ones now, but the ones used in the early 80s leaked often.

Nothing to say a tractor with only 980 hours can't have the clutch plate worn out, some people drive around with their foot resting on the pedal all the time. That's why the new ones peep at you for doing this.
