hi people my 3545 has got a problem. i cant get the second stage on the clutch:mad: i have already split it once:( so i have split it again i need to know.

A: on the main plate wher the shaft goes in on side of the plate the meatal piece is long and the other is short. which side is suppose to face the flywheel?

B: the pto plate where the shaft goes in short side or long side to face the gearbox?

help
cheers matt

Ehhh? I think you mean this the other way around???
The pto shaft is the thin shaft. The main gearbox drive is the big shaft. (I think:-x)
I find the plate centre catches on the flywheel bolts If you put the long end first (So, put the long end to face away from the flywheel) The other plate Is not so important (but again facing away from the other plate is probably the best)

But, having said this,on a David brown 880 the "long" plate-centre fits inside a bearing cover on the flywheel.

sorted it and it works the thin shaft is the drive and the thick shaft is the pto. the long metal piece in the flywheel. sorted.

Yes, the thick hollow shaft is the PTO. The PTO gears are the first in the tranny, after the PTO gears, the main transmission shaft goes on alone, all the way to the hi/lo reduction gears in front of the diff. The PTO gears are put down by 540 rpm reduction gears, then proceed inside the transmission layshaft to the back, where they drive the oil pump underneath the rear axle, and come out on a 6 splined shaft stub at the back.

On other tractors David Brown,John Deere ect.. its the other way around. Thats what they taught me:sneaky:
No wonder My pto clutch does not work properly 69)
