Hi everyone I`m new to this site and was looking for some of you clever folk to help me solve a niggling problem with my 4340 brakes?

When I`m traveling forward and apply the brakes there is no progressive braking, as the pedal is pressed further no matter how slow I do this it just goes Whack and full lock up occurs ( my son has had to many bumps of the wind screen to count!)
Also if I wish to revesre , and my foot is on the brake the wheels lock up unless I move forward a few inches to free it!
Any feed back and suggested solutions would be greatly appreciated, as this is doing my head in now and my lad won`t join me in the tractor any more!!;)

Great site by the way

I have the same issue with a 5340, if you solve it I'd love to hear how, good luck.

I guess we are talking about dry disc brakes and if so I am also very interested if anybody have a solution. More or less the same symptom on my 4340. When I break on reverse I need to go 10 cm forward so the break will release the sticking and then continue going reverse.

If indeed Dry Disk, then may be similar to the Fordson Super Major, as they had the same problem.
Caused by dirty and worn Balls and Ramps and Springs and the only cure is to clean (Brake dust and rust mostly) and replace any and all worn parts.

I,ve had the same prob before. I think there may be a bit of gear oil getting in to the brakes , which gets burned off when you use the brakes and leaves sticky stuff on the shoes. Take them off and clean them up. Worked for me.
