I have a 6341 with a leaking air cylinder that controls the 4X4. can this cylinder be rebuilt or will I have to replace the entire part? Dealers are few and far between here in Ohio, USA. Any advice will be welcome. Thank you.

Hi Mike
It is the cylinder leaking around the shaft, and a little at the top cap on the cylinder. When I have 4X4 engaged the leak stops. I was concerned about corrosion on the walls of the cylinder. Do you know if it has a cup seal or O-ring? I haven't taken it off yet, wanted to find out what I was getting into. I am guessing that it also has a spring inside. Thank you for your reply, any info will help .
George

I'm a little late here, but that cylinder is a normally closed cylinder, spring loaded. Without air, it engages the transfer case. Then, with air applied, the pressure overrides the spring.
To answer your question, remove the cylinder and break it down, then take the wiper (seal) to a cylinder repair shop to see if they can match it. If the cylinder wall isn't scored or pitted, you should be good to go.

Thanks Big Orn. Air pressure holds it out of 4X4. When you hit the switch or if you lose air it goes into 4X4. I have already replaced the seal on the shaft, but it is losing air where the shaft goes out the bottom of the cylinder body. I haven't had time to see is what kind of seal is at the bottom of the cylinder, and if it can be replaced. Thanks for your reply.

Thought I would try this again. Does anyone know if the seal at the bottom of the cylinder, that the shaft goes through, can be replaced? Thank you.
George

Thanks for the reply Mike.
I have replaced the cup seal in the cylinder, but it leaks around the shaft, and that makes it stay in 4X4. I will try a dealer to see if they can help . My past experience is that they don't know much about these tractors. I may have to replace the entire assembly. Is the part number you sent for the cup seal inside the cylinder? Do you have a part number for the entire cylinder?
Thank you
George

I buy my parts from Anderson Tractor in Carthage Texas. Those cylinders are not that rugged anyway. If you want a work-around, you can make it manually engage. That's what I did. It's pretty easy to do.
Sorry not much help on the cylinder repair. After I removed mine and discovered how flimsy it was, I decided to bypass it.

Well, I got this fixed. I should have taken it apart before I ordered the "seal". It was shipped direct from ZetorNA. The seal turned out to be a 50 Cent O ring that weighed less than an ounce. The company charged $20.00 US for mailing from Jacksonville, Fl to Ohio. Total charge was $24.00. I could have bought it from any local parts store for less than $1.00. Good luck to Zetor with that kind of customer service. I am waiting for a response to my letter of protest.
George

Writing a reply to your letter of protest takes another half hour of time from their payd employees. Thats exactly why they charge 20 dollar for handling your order, packing it and sending it.... because it takes time from payd enployees.

You might not have anything better to do than writing a letter of protest over a friggin O ring, but those people handling your order dont work for free.
