I have a 1984 5245 Zetor and it started kicking out of high range, shortly after that i noticed that it was only working on the front drives and when i took it out of 4 wheel drive the rear drives are not working. Any ideas?

The 4wd idler gear is on the high/low gear secondary shaft.

Ive heard of 7745 shearing the rivets off the crown gear, but on a 5245 it would be a novelty... And it can walk out of high range for a worn arrestor spring...

You'll have to take the transmission lid off to check whats going on... and if its all right there, youd have to lift the 3pt lift cover off.

Oh yes ive once seen that a Same Aster 70 worn through its satellite pins in the rear diff... Though it had only two, where the Zetor has four... Yes most likely the diff satelite gear pins (or spider pins) have worn through... ?

so i finally found time to take my 5245 apart and the crown is broke, the trans look good everything works fine but when i took off the top of the rear end the crown and pinion where spinning freely. it looks like all the pins or rivets have sheared off. Any help on what kind of a job it is to fix that?

Typical. Normally only the 7745 would do that, not the lightest of the range.

Anyways, see if there is room to fit either low inner hex head nuts, or spherical head nuts (which are also low) which can be installed from the top without taking the entire assembly apart. Thats how they fix 7745's with the crown gear rivets sheared off.

OK thanks i think their is room i will try and remove the rivets that is going to be the hard part i beleive
