what is the normal starting procedure for a 5245 tractor and is a starting procedure any different if the tractor hasn't been started in a few months?

charge battery first. pointless trying to start it with a flat battery.
cold start button (on pump) pressed in, ignition on, throttle lever to max, depress clutch, push start button.
voila!

No cold start button anymore on 5245. But use the hand pump to prime, as many times they let air leak into the system, and fuel run back to the tank.

In some countries they have a switch on the clutch pedal which disengages the starter, so you have to press the clutch as a safety device.
