Hi, Have 5718 that i am having a problem shifting gears, I can get one , two and three gears ok but when i go into the two higher gears gear lever gets stuck.
I have to open the four bolts that hold selector lever on top of gearbox at front and push back bar so selector rod can move so i can get gears.
I have read on forum that the top plate on gearbox can be removed and welded to repair wear, so do i leave levers for pto speed in postion and remove pto and handbrake levers and just lift lid off gearbox ???
If anyone has done this job or knows what i should do to fix problem
prior to this problem i was having a problem with grinding gear when putting into gears

the block under the shifter rod also wears. but also weld some into the wear grooves. Make sure you dont weld too much, a little dent is ok but a heap has to be filed by hand because the place is hard to reach without taking off the steering wheel and fuel tank.

If I'm understanding correctly that you can move it okay with the 4 bolts loose. Try fitting a thicker gasket (or 2 gaskets) to the 4 bolt housing.
Now you speak of it... i had to put a washer under the arrestor bolt of the hi/low range lever of my 3011. When fully screwed into the gearbox cover, it was so deep that the ball would not fully come out of the groove, making it extremely hard to shift.

I understood that he has to manually move the shifter rod in order to access it with the shift stick mechanism, which may be caused by a clicker bolt being unscrewed, allowing the shift rod to wander.
