I have a 5911 that white smokes when revved to half throttle,ticks over lovely,First thought was a headgasket but they all seem ok,Been told it could possibly be injectors - any pointers greatly appreciated before we start fumbling about

White smoke

Normally means that the fuel injected into the cylinder is not burning correctly. The smoke will burn your eyes.

* Engine/pump timing out
* Fuel starvation to the pump causing the pumps timing not to operate correctly
* Low engine compression
* Water/petrol in the fuel

I would go for timing first, its unlikely that all injectors would become faulty together, unless the onset of smoking coincided with an injector change, water in fuel would be obvious in the sediment bowl, fuel starvation would occur at higher load, and poor compression would make for hard starting, so what else is left ? Worn timing gears ? worn injector pump coupling?
your guess is as good as mine !!! maybe one bad injector ?

Hi. Iv got a 7245 doing the same and still trying to sort. To test to see if it could be just one injector or poor compression on one cylinder i took the injector pipe of each injector one at a time, if its down to one cylinder then it will stop white smoking with the troublesome cylinder disconected.
