6045 Hydraulic pump issues

Need some help on a 6045 Hydraulic pump
1. Cleaned top filter today and found a lot of metal fragments in it.
Pump failure?
2. Is the pump located in behind the cover under the rear?
3. Also does the oil need to be drained before the cover is
removed?
4. Filter was replaced by others about 100hrs ago.

Would appreciate some input to this issue

1 sinse the gearoil is used for hydraulicks its not unnkommon to have som metal fragments inn it
2 the pump is mounted to the round cover under the rearend and comes out whit it.
3 Yes.
4 the mesh filter and magnet can be cleaned and reinstaled.
