6245 Excessive steering play

I can turn the steering wheel more than half a turn without any movement outside the steering box.
Is anyone aware of an adjustment possibility -- or is it something really dire in the worm drive or elsewhere?

Hi Richard

There are 4 little bolts inside which hold the worm nut into the yoke which could come loose. Take the r/h side plate off and have a look. The outer steering arm is keyed onto the steering shaft, this could be loose.

Hi Mike,
many thanks for your help . In the event a nut (about 30 mm) halfway up the steering column was found to be loose. Tightening it has solved the problem.
