I need help on what to look for when i inspect my injectors. The pld girls seems to be missing just a tad bit. I know the spray pattern needs to be fanned out, just dont know the best way to approch testing spray pattern. My battery light is staying on all the time, and lights seem to dim. Is there a generic alt that can be used or just zetor replacement?
If you replace the PAL alternator with another make some re-wiring is necessary.
I will describe how to fit a lucas, but the same applies to most 2 wire units.
Bear in mind that the regulator won't be needed. The large wire that goes to the bolt on the PAL goes straight to the battery, so that one is fitted to the large terminal on the replacement alternator.
The small terminal also goes to the battery, but via the key and the warning light. this exites the alternator when the key is on and lights the bulb to show current if flowing TO the alternator when it's not turning. When the engine starts the current then is the same voltage either side of the bulb so the light goes out.
So, take one of the small wires that plug into the PAL and fit it to the small terminal on the alternator. find the same colour wire on the regulator, remove it and bridge it to the wire off the regulator that goes to the warning light and key switch.
It then ought to work !!.
Try and find an alternator with a small pulley as the Zetor pulley while it works OK, doesn't start charging until it reaches a higher RPM .
Hope this helps, Dave
