6245 pto shaft removal

Hi all, I am trying to remove the pto shaft from my 6245, it will come as far as the bearing level with the outer casing, but then comes to a stop. I have the pto lever in the cab in the second position from forward, which I was told to do. is this correct, and am I missing something?

Problem sorted, I just wasn't pulling hard enough, welded a bar on the end of the broken shaft and used a chain to pull it out. New on just slid in and working fine!
