Looking to rent this tractor which owner says won't start and that manual primer won't pump. I haven't tried yet, but would like to check some basics first. How can the fuel system be bled without using the manual pump ? How to service this pump ? If priming is a problem, can an electric primer be installed in the supply line from fuel tank ?

Now, I have read lots of fuel discussion on this super forum, but still have some of the same questions. I also would like to get the tractor started so that I can move it outside and remove the FEL so as to have more room to work. Without benefit of the manual primer, which may either be worn or just needing to be primed itself, it may not be easy to bleed the system. It seems to me that the most time efficient fix would be to install an electric lift pump, as close to the fuel tank as possible, with a filter between this pump and tank. Another option would be to rebuild the manual primer. The sediment bowl is full, so this may mean that the pump is primed. Space inside the FEL is tight but I can get to the primer. How to remove and repair ? Thanks

Now I have managed to get some pressure from the manual primer, but there is leaking around the stem. I haven't yet tried to start the tractor, and hoping that the leak will stop when the primer is screwed in. Any ideas ? Would this be a cause of loss of prime in injection pump ?
