Both cables are connected to the same shaft, but on different arms. Are these frozen together or should they work independently ? Mine are frozen together, but the shaft turns against a spring which must be inside the transmission case. On the other side of the tractor a shaft also turns and pushes an adjustable rod back. To the brake?
See post "6340 clutch adjustment" for further discussion of this problem and solution.
SUGGESTION TO OWNERS OF MODELS WITH THIS ARRANGEMENT OF PARKING BRAKE AND PTO CLUTCH CABLES ATTACHED TO THE SAME SHAFT
Frequently squirt oil onto this shaft and rotate the nylon bushings on both sides of the transmission case. This should keep the PTO clutch pivot arm from rusting onto the shaft, and should also help keep the parking brake arms from rusting onto the shaft in case of the need to disassemble and change the three oil seals.
