Turbo 7745
Hi I am looking at buying low hour 6340 for road work and winter feeding, but may need more power in the summer. I have 7745 turbo which adequate power, is it possible to fit a similar turbo to a 6340, would the head and pistons take it or need up grading.

The head gaskets are gel type, the valves are different and the turbo heads have hardened valve seats crimped in the heads, instead of the valve running against cast material.

But you can off course wait with the upgrade when the valves start leaking, and then redo the head...

Any wastegated turbo from a 1.9 or 2 liter passenger car would do the trick, as it will have roughly the same air displacement. 2 liter at 4400rpm is about the same volume as 3.9 liter at 2200rpm.

A turbo off a 90hp 1.9TDI would be suited best, as it is in the same range, a turbo that makes a 70hp sucker a 90hp blown diesel.
