I have been given a quote of 500 for repair of brakes on my 6718. Does this sound reasonable?

New brake cylinders & shoes will cost around 100 from main agent & can be replaced in under 4 hours

Donald,
That price was probably a dealer with a large workshop and overheads. Have you tried your local "man with a van". That job isn't rocket science to do and only requires minimal tools.
I would add to Alans comment, replace the master cylinders as well, they are not terribly expensive and check out all the brake pipes while you are at it, if rusted replace with copper alloy ones.
Try Ringing Peter Hill on 07831305343 He comes from Ivybridge, but does go to your area occasionally and has all the gear including a crane in his van. his charges are reasonable.

Dave ( from the other side of the moor, still B....y raining !)
