6718. cannot get get the drive PTO to work on my grass cutter

Can anyone help me, I think you call it the PTO, am not sure All i know is that i am unable to drive on my grass cutter. It keeps jumping out of gear. The little lever that has the snail and hare on, also have different symbols on the other side, Its that one. I have looked at the book ,but i really am new to this. I would me greatful for any advise.

Hi

When you move the lever into gear does it feel like it locates in one particular spot or is it floppy? If it's loose it could be a broken spring under one of the 5 gear-locks on top of the gerbox cover. Otherwise you may have worn gears.

Hi, No its not just in one spot or sloppy, one miniuate a have the gear and then it seem to pop out of gear and lose drive,but the lever has not moved at all , but i am un able to move the lever it very stiff , but if you play about with it in a while you are able to move the lever , but may not always be able to get driver back to operate the grass cutter at the back. Am sorry if i sound abit think, but its all new to me, am only just learning how to drive it.

Hi Sam

It sounds like you've got an internal problem. Either with the PTO selector or with the gears themselves. Where abouts in the UK are you ?
