6945 hard starter

Hi. I have recently acquired a 6945 and it doesn't want to start without starting fluid. It doesn't have glow plugs or any sort of starting aid. And when it does start there is a lot of white smoke(unburned fuel ). Is this normal for these models? What can I do to change it, rebuild injectors, fuel pump?

have you not used the Cold start button ? you must put the hand throttle to full Power. then there is a button on the end of the dieselpump toward the front of engine. push it in and i think you will find it to start right away.

Thanks. Ive found the button. I didnt know it was on there. Ill try it this weekend when i get a chance to work on it again. Still looking for a wiring diagram also.
