7045 Front prop shaft

Continuing to work through my 7045...
I need to replace the U/J at the rear of the front propshaft (cardanshaft? for Europeans?). I can see that the front U/J carrier bolts up to the front diff with 4 bolts as per usual: I can't see how the rear U/J carrier releases. My parts manual is a bit indistinct in that area.
Does it just pull forward on splines out of the drop box - is there a circlip holding it in, so it has to be prised forward off the splines?
Presumably I'll have to drop all the gearbox & backend oil - all 30L of it? I did the same job on my old UTB, but I didn't need to drain the oil on that AFAIR.
