8045 backwards 4wd

Hi just wanted to make sure this isn't gonna be a problem, the 8045 I recently fixed up appears to be backwards to engage 4wd, for example to operate 4wd you push push the little nob beside the seat down, then pull it up for 2wd, seems wrong to me but that's how it works, is this normal?
 
You need to pull for 4wd . I think you might have the cable to long . When in 2wd the knob shud be down full . flush with the floor .
 
I checked everything out before I assembled it, whatever is going on is internal because when engine is off the 4wd is locked in, in one way it's good because it means the handbrake holds all 4 wheels.
