9540 wont start in cold

Is it trying to start?

We have had a few probs in the cold with the new fuel we have to use now.

We have ended up using an additive and this seems to have sorted the problem.

yes trying but when starts runs like cement mixer and very smoky after a minute it runs fine

sounds a bit like its firing on a couple of pots before it gets warmed up enough to fire on the rest. Could be anything from fuel , heat plugs, injector pump, or injectors them selves need servicing.

I Would start with the heater plugs.

Its a process of elimination till you find the problem.

We have IH 444 for yard work and that only heats on 2 plugs and sounds like a bag of nails and smokes like hell till she warms up enough to fire on the other 2 pot. But she starts every morning inculding the cold ones. She's been like it for a while now.
