Caution - never let the engine run with the ignition key removed or the battery disconnected. There is a risk that the diodes in the rectifier of the three-phase alternator will break and thus destroy the rectifier.

Addition to DDR alternators:
If a contact "IG" (Ignition) or "R" is present on the three-phase alternator, a switched line (12V+) from the ignition switch is connected there. The cable then supplies the voltage directly to the alternator regulator, so that it always receives voltage immediately to switch on.

(often to see at Zetor 5011 to 7745 models)
- Newer regulators mounted outside the alternator for Zetor 4712 to 7745 models in certain variations
