ive got a 3340 3 cyl and the tranny is leaking up by the bellhousing where it and the engine comes together. thought first must be the front seal so i tore it all apart got the tranny seal out didnt look bad but i hunted up a new one got it all back together on sat and came home today and bottom of bellhousing is wet again. any ideals?

i have 4340 -95 with loader, have the same problem. dont know where it leaks, most leakage when reverse on uphill. big job to make 2 pieces (loader rods etc...) thought it is on the sealings but if you replaced them with no help , i cant help. hope we get answer from someone to this! (sorry my english) Greetings from finland!

It could also be the crankshaft seal. is the oil as black as the engine oil, or brown/yellow like the rear end oil ?

It could also be the gasket of the front transmission cover inside. you can replace it with an original gasket, or a paper gasket.

oil is a brown color i did replace the cover gasket with silicone may check that crankshaft seal too thanks

judging by the colour of the oil leaking into bell housing it is coming from your transmission box, just check what seals are replaceable on te transmission cover. If te oill was blackish it would indicate it was coming from the crankshaft seal

well an update on my leak put a new front seal in it seal fit good the shaft isnt worn or anything but it is still slinging tranny fluid out of the clutch somehow the fluid is getting past it. we put silicone on the front bearing retainer for a gasket. were stumped any ideals

Hi

If you had the small cap off the end of the bottom shaft, did the shims line up and not drop when you bolted the cap back on ?
You could have a bearing gone in the front of the box. Does it jump out of top gear, or is it noisy ?
If in doubt where it's coming from, split it and fill the transmission up well overfull and leave it overnight.

tranny doesnt make any noise only thing i can figure out someone had been in it and put a new front seal and front bearing and i put a new seal thinking they may had put wrong one in it.the only other thing i can think of maybe front bearing is wrong but idk how you would determine that and find out what the correct one would be
