Hi again

Does anyone else use their Zetor for snow blowing? How often do you grease the blower axle bearings?

Thanks

Heh heh we dont get enough snow...
About once in the 4 years, there is enough snow that we need to clear. We push it off the driveway with a frame, that is normally used for egalising reseeded grassalnd, after ploughing.
For 30 years ago, we had 25 cm of snow but most years we have no snow or wet snow that dissolves in the rain...

Do you use ordinaty grease on the blower, in those cold conditions, or a grease with a higher cold viscosity ??

Recommendation is once a day (8 hour), but I am quite lacy people to grease snow blower..... I think If you are not a pro it is enough if you grease the pto axle two or three times in a vinter. We use the blower only for forestry roads etch. where is about 60 cm snow to blow. It is too slow machine using to road services working.... Usually using snow ploughs 1 on front of the tractor and another on three point linkage.

Thank you both for your replies!

Renze, yes I just use general purpose grease. I haven't seen different grades here but perhaps Markku can correct me?

Markku, it looks like I don't need to worry yet then! My snow work takes about 20 minutes and of course not all of that is with the blower operating. So, that means doing snow-work at least 24 times before I get to 8 hours of operation. That's probably the whole winter!

Many thanks

There is different type greases for different use in cold weather too. I use only the Mobil Grease Special grease in vinter and summer. The automatic greasing systems need sometimes summer and winter grease, but those are mounted to excavators, forestry machines and trucks.... not usually in tractors.

I am going to be blowing snow, with my 5011 and a 7foot blwer made by provost and it has a rotating drum for sideway evacuation.
I will be using a winter grease with lithium.
this grease is an industriel grease for heavy equipment so every other snow storm should be fine.
depends on the hours ya will be blowing, I figure just for myself about an hour per storm

smelly

Depending on how good the seals are (or are'nt) you might consider waterproof grease. I agree that every 8 hours of actual use should be fine.
By the way, have you guys heard of the "Fair" snow thrower?
It is made in South Dakota USA where the winters are rather fierce. Lots of wind and drifting. They call their snow drifts "snowcrete". The best thing about them for us is that they have no auger, just big discs with paddles on them. You can get into rocks that will shear the pins on any other thrower that I have seen and these things just spit them out. You do need to be carefull about pointing the shoot! They have a web site.
