I am renewing rear brake slave cylinders and brakes on a Zetor 5945 and I have no experience of this on a Zetor. Have hit a problem in removing brake/axle half shaft assembly. Can extract the axle about 2 inches but no further, though the brake drum is visible and spinning freely. Something seems to be holding the half shaft in the housing. Has anyone got any ideas? Although I am a complete amateur I have done this work on David Browns without this problem.

You have to release the handbrake brake band adjustment (M12 bolt with locknut that either protudes through the top vent plate or just below it) to allow the brake band to expand enough to allow the drum to be withdrawn.

I think there is a ridge on the brake drum, to align the hand brake band on it. Just loosen it untill it expands enough.
