Hi
I was out pulling up a few cedar trees this afternoon and my clutch started acting up - way too much play at the top and very short lift from the bottom before the clutch engaged. When I got back to the barn I checked the reservoir and it was empty. Filled it but wasn't able to open the bleed screw which feels like a 10 mm socket fits on it. Help ! Is the socket size correct? Is there somethng else I should check? It does look like the Master Cylinder is leaking - I (actually a mechanical friend of mine) replaced the seals on the master and slave clutch cylinders about 18 months ago.

Any ideas, suggestions etc appreciated.

Bob

replacing seals of master cylinders wont help - throw away the old PAL ones and buy new Fragokov cylinders, available at your Zetor dealer. It's not the seal that is the problem, but the coating of the liner surface. Zetor nowadays factory mounts these Fragokov cylinders.

Hi Bob,

My name is Dominic, and I stock all the Fragokov cylinders in Canada for your Zetor tractor. Much better quality than the CEFS cylinders you may have used in the past. Can be reached at ferrid@aol.com if you require them.

Thanks,

Dominic

As far as bleeding your current cylinder, the slave on my 4340 takes a 9mm socket, and the bleed valve is in an awkward place. I had to use a 1/4 inch drive socket with the small non-ratcheting handle...nothing else would fit in the small space, and even with this I could only turn it enough to break it open a little. Since my tractor has a cab, I had to get creative to bleed the slave up under the cab. Fortunately, there's a 2-1/2" hole just under the clutch pedal, with a rubber plug. Taking this plug out, I could run a small rope from the clutch pedal, over the loader mount and back to where I sat under the tractor. Using this, I could operate the clutch and the bleed valve at the same time. Good Luck!

Greg

Thank you gentlemen

I bled the slave but it still leaks. Will order a new and improved version this coming week.
