Clutch question

My 3340 started something strange yesterday and I wonder if it means I'll have a problem soon.

Just about every time I engage the clutch, the friction point changes. Some times the clutch engages close to the floor and some times it engages in the 'normal' position, which is almost all the way out. Some times it engages in between. So far it hasn't affected functionality at all. Both the clutch master and slave cylinders seem to be ok and the brake fluid level is still high.

Has anyone ever had this happen? Am I going to have clutch problems soon?

Grease the shaft on which the slave cylinder actuates.

Greasing the shaft seemed to work. I try to lubricate the tractor on a regular schedule but never saw the clutch shaft grease fitting. Thanks Again!

I hope it keeps that way... I was thinking if my short answer made sense: Maybe it does, but i wanted to add one thing more:

Have you inspected the clutch cylinder from the outside, or did you lift the dust boot ? If you lift the dust boot and no brake fluid comes down on you, the clutch shaft greasing should have been the trick. If there is fluid behind the dust boot, you had luck this time but the master cylinder may be lurking to give up...

Thanks, I'm pretty sure greasing the shaft was the remedy. I checked the dust boot for fluid and it was dry. The clutch pedal works very smoothly now!

Double checked. :)

In that case, congratulations :D
