I have to replace the cables to control the loader on my Zetor 5245. they freeze up in the winter, and now the ends are broken from forcing the handles. has anyone found an alternative to the controls on this loader. or is there a source for cables that you could point me to.

thanks
ken

This brings back (bad) memories of a trip loader.

What are the control cables used for on an Allied 394 loader?

Is it possible to replace the cables with small hydraulic cylinders? Or are there linkage issues which prohibit this?

Tom, i think this sir means the bowden cables to operate the spool valves that are mounted outside of the cab...
The 394 is a bit more modern loader than what's in your memories...

I've managed to find a picture of an Allied 394 loader at http://www.bubarsales.com/content/216930
(this one also has a control cable problem!)

Given the problems you are having with the cables, if it were my tractor, I'd bite the bullet and put a new (non cable) spool valve in the tractor cab and get rid of the cables altogether.

The hydraulic pipes for the loader lift/lower, bucket open/close and auxillary functions can be routed so as to cause minimal intrusion.

My thoughts anyway...

I have cable controls on the 4 section spool valves of my loader: With 4 functions, its a lot of oil lines and heat inside the cab.
I have no problems with the bowden cables, except for the hook that hooks into the lower end of the lever, sometimes breaks off and needs to be welded. The cables themself operate flawless, with lots of WD 40 sprayed into them as preventative measure.
My cables hang in a U shape from levers, underneath the floor, to the spool valves in front of the cab, so the WD 40 doesnt drip out...
