hi have an 8011 when engine gets hot oil pressure drops do i need a new pump or could it be some thing else any help would be great thanks

Hi mike I have only got this 8011 probally dose need an oil change would it make a difference . Do you know if it is a big job too do the shell bearings and what sort of cost thanks mike

Hi

The oil change could help as the oil gets the stuffing knocked out of it after a long while and loses its viscosity when hot.
Big ends can be changed by just removing the sump from the engine. Not sure of the cost but you should be able to do the job for under 50.

Mike

Hi mike I will try oil first see what happens if not i will drop the sump . If i change the oil would it be ok too keep driving it or would i do more long term damage what do you think . Thanks mike. Have to say this is a great site

The Crystal engine uses blanking plugs in the journals of the crank which were prone to coming out, resulting in pressure loss & eventually a siezed engine! Check the jets in the oil cleaner first as these also came out.

How much is the oil pressure dropping by?
Crystals normally when hot will drop down to as little as 1/2 a bar on the guage when at a slow tickover. I wouldn't worry if you have over 2 bar pressure at 1500 rpm. Remember, these are old tractors now.
As others have said, fresh oil is essential, and don't forget to clean the centrifugal filter, making sure the balance marks line up on re-assembly.
