Hello everyone,

My friend is thinking of fitting a turbo kit to his 7540 and is wondering is it worth it. Will he have to uprate the engine internals to cope with the extra hp or will just fitting an intercooler be enough just to keep the higher temperatures down?

How much gain in hp would he get?

Normaly you will get at least 15% - 25% HP increase simply by bolting on a turbo and opening up the fuel pump.

A intercooler is not neccasary for such a conversion.
Tempratures will remain much the same

10540 did have an intercooler. The 9540 did not. some 8045's put out 110 PTO horsepower for years, without an intercooler.

Thank you both for the replies, it is much appreciated.

A 9641 has come up for sale in a local garage and my friend is thinking of buying it and trading in the 7540 against it. He probably will not fit the turbo now as the 9641 is coming with a self-levelling power loader and he is getting a good deal. The tractor is only two years old and is very clean.

Thanks again.

James
