Hi

Did a maintenance check on my 7045 today. I discovered that the front left wheel has some slack to it. If I put my hands on top of the wheel and wiggle I can move it about 6-8mm side to side. It was also almost empty of oil in the housing.

Is it possible to tighten these bearings or do I need new ones?

Is it just a new bearing I need or should I order other parts before I open it up?

Anyone?

Hi Tom,

If it's the wheel bearing and not the hub pivots they are adjustable. There is a ring nut under the middle cap. To replace the main seal it is a difficult job and you need special tools to do the job.

Thanks Mike.

I will take a look under the cap and see if I can tighten it.

Do I need a special tool to tighten this nut or is a big hammer and a punch enough to get them loose? Did try with a hammer but it didnt move, maybe some wd40 and a bigger hammer will do the trick.

Seems like I need to remove the first nut and then the locking ring to tighten it.

Knocked the outer ring loose and then it was easy. Adjusted the bearing with just a tad of play. Will keep an eye on it and reset the bearing later.

Added a picture.

Just make sure that you have enough oil in the hub at all times.
