Hi folks

I've been looking at my front axle (front tyres need replacing as do all of the ball joints) and I notice that the whole axle assembly slides backwards and forwards about 3/8" along the pivot pipe.

The manual seems to speak (it's a bit hard to understand) of adjustment shims but the sizes - 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 - don't seem to make much sense for this application so I wonder if they are talking about something else?

Has anyone else experienced this problem, or can anyone explain how the pivot assembly is actually meant to be assembled?

Thanks!

Yes, the front axlepivot is adjusted with filler shims.Mostly you can get universal ones from a hardare store or dealer.

Just like a stack of washers?

Is there an easy way to install them?

Thanks :)

Yes, kind of... if you have access to a lathe, you can also get as slose as possible by machining a bush and then adjust with shims.
