My friend has a problem with the gearbox of his zetor 7245. He had a problem with 'double-shifting', partially solved that- he found first but then lost reverse. The top of the transmission got taken off. There is a short shaft mounted in side of the gearbox casting which was making a bit of noise, had a fair bit of play in, and had the edges worn off the teeth of the two gears which are mounted on it. To get these out we assumed you had to remove the top gearbox shaft, so split the tractor and took off the plate inside the bellhousing. The problem now is that we think the top shaft splits behind the first bearing mounting, but can't quite work out how. We presume you have to split it here because we can't budge the bearing on the shaft and it won't clear the 2nd cog on the bottom shaft to pull it forward and out. What do we do about this? and what do we do about the short shaft? seem to be able to slide it back a bit after removing bolt but needed top shaft cogs out of the way, or so we think. HELP !
