hello Hi from Canada this is my zetor 7245

Hello and welcome Doug! :)

this is my zetor 7245, I purchased it a couple summers ago and have been slowly rebuilding it.

We used to have a 7245 on my father's farm back in 1987. It was bought new and we had it for 8 years. Ours was a pain in the butt for breaking down. Even the first day it came, while the garage man backed it down off the lorry, it was leaking brake fluid.

It was described to us as a "Monday morning tractor".

1987, so it was surely a model from first series and just in a time Zetor have there first big business trouble. End 1987/ middle 1988 the second series of UR1 range 12 was sold, and at many points better than the older models.
In most cases the models from 1988 up to 1995, Zetor 5211 up to 7745 Turbo, are good hard workers with less trouble. In middle Europe they where sold in good conditions for realy good prices.

We had a 7745 for a brief time after the 7245. The 7745 was new too, but there were very few changes on it, but it was trade in for one of our last new tractors, a 7340 with shuttle box.

uh... the 7340 is a great tractor...☺️ I heard...🤭

Never said there was anything wrong with the 7340, just my father was coming to the end of his farming career and he didn't buy any new tractors after that. We did buy other tractors just not new ones.

If wanted to be picky about the 7340 shuttle? I'd say, there the shuttle handle was placed was a bit uncomfortable for used.

Yes, however, the transmission variant (reversing transmission) with shuttle was not sold that often.
Also the gear lever between the legs... Zetor only fixed that with the Super series and moved it to the right side.

I can't remember driving it too often, it wasn't my favourite tractor to drive and was usually on a ZTS or 10145, but I remember for loading stuff, you had a great choice of gears in reverse compared to only having a 10, 2 gearbox.

Yes - but I mean in this case no reduction gear (torque converter) and I don't think there's a 1000 rpm PTO either.

Yes your right there. It was missing the lever to change from 540 to 1000. It was a 10/10 gearbox on it. But I didn't drive very often. My tractor of choice was always a ZTS or a Crystal back then. The bossman assigned us tractors and we really didn't drive each others tractor then,

If the handle on our 7340 was in the same place as the one in the video, it would definitely been a much nicer tractor to drive and feel more normal than one gearstick between your legs at the front and one under the seat between your legs.

Oh - that can changed...

Source: not mine, but forget where it was - I think at nasetraktory maybe?
I have some more pictures from this. ;)

You see that's a change somebody made after the tractor was used. When we bought our tractor new and it was in warranty, you can't be modifying it. And then when we had it a while you got used to using it and have your own way of working. Then it wasn't on the farm for too many years until one with a proper shuttle handle tractor came out and the Zetor 7340 was moved on.
