Just bought a 3340 I put it in high range to drive to field and now it is stuck in high range . Is all the way back high and forward low range? Can not get it out of high. Is there some procedure to change from high to low ?
Put it in 5th speed it up, drop clutch and brake simultaneously whilst also pushing the lever forward. It's just a bit of gearbox wind up.
Also, in 2wd it shifts easier because the 4wd idler is on the range layshaft. Braking and apply the clutch is also the method of choice if you cant get it out of 4wd.
Well thanks guys. I tried both ways and still will not come out of high. Also will not come out of four wheel, that is, if four wheel is up. Not sure if that lever up is in four wheel or down is four wheel. It is up now and I can not get it down. The shift lever goes all the way forward but it stays in high range and I can only get it to come rearward a couple of inches. It worked the first two times I tried it but now stuck. Can I disc with it in high range if I use 1st gear only? Seems to me I may have to have mechanic look at it but I have no trailer so was hoping I could do this myself. This is my first diesel, used ford 8n before and could do all the work on it but this one is a mystery
