Hey Tom,
Theres quite a bit of hydraulic plumbing on the splitter not to mention the spool valve and ram. Did you just have this lying around or did you "borrow" it from the loader?

It looks the business though...

Hi Pat,

I've annotated a photo in my photo album to clarify what the hydraulic functions are:

I did use a 2 port spool valve whereas a single would have done. The cylinder is the hydraulic top link for my MF 35.

Although the hoses look like spagetti junction, the functions are:

1. Oil supply from tractor to spool valve
2. Oil return from spool valve to tractor
3. Block out - to chop wood. Oil from spool valve to cylinder.
4. Block return - to bring block to rest position to permit new block of wood to be loaded. Oil flows in opposite direction from spool valve to cylinder.

Hi Tom,
You were lucky you had the cylinder and valve handy, they can be expensive to source. I think this is a great example of how useful tractor hydraulics can be over and above the normal tipping trailer/loader/implement control.
