I am looking at buying a 1996 Zetor 9540 Mfwa 4x4. I am in Alberta Canada and I am a girl. An old one at that. I am looking for a good reliable tractor for my horse farm. I need to be able to haul bales thru snow ice and mud. I need to be able to hook up the three point hitch equipment easily. I did find a place close to me that can find parts for this tractor. The loader is a quick attach and I can find a quick attach bale fork. So big question do you think this is the right tractor for me? I have never heard of this brand before but it seems to have everything I want and at the price I can afford.
Thanks for any input.

a 50hp MFWD is enough for some horse hay hauling, but as you said the 9540 is within your price range, it doesnt hurt to have some overcapacity when using front loaders :)

How do you think they compare to your more common brands as John Deere? Why are they a cheaper tractor? For what this tractor has I would be paying like double for the same in a John Deere????

Zetor is a solid build tractor and very good value for the money. Some brands have build up a premium price for the same tractor i.e. the link where you can find Zetor in the John Deere cloth

zetors are a strong no nonsense machine. with that said you will be giving up some comforts compared to the john deere, but not nearly enough to merit the extra cost of going green. for what you want it to do, the zetor is a good, fuel efficient tractor.

So I was pretty much ready to go see it and then my friend (guy) cancelled on me. Phoned the tractor dude and said sorry but will try to make it there as soon as I can find a reliable guy to come and look at it. Totally understood and was very nice.. Then two hours later phoned back and said it was sold. I am pretty disappointed now.
