I have a 7745 and am trying to figure out how to check the fluid level for the front axle gear box as well as the planetary drives. I have found the plugs on the planetary drives but am not sure what position they are to be in when checking the fluid. I also found two plugs on the axle housing, but just wanted to confirm that the bigger one is for filling and the smaller one is the correct level plug. Also, on the transfer case for the 4wd, it only has a drain plug so am I correct in assuming that it is filled thru the transmission box? Thanks, juney

the correct position of the planetary drives when checking/ adding fluid is the big filler bolt should be facing straigth upwards and then the little level plug will give you a correct level. for the front axel the big one in the bottom is drain plug. ther is also a big one on top of the axel thats the fill plug. the level plug is located at the front of the housing. when you are facing the tracor directly forward its a little plug just behind the steering rod that runs between thee front wheels. hpoe this helps :)

You are also correct about the oil drained through the 4wd transfer case. It is the transmission oil that you drain that way. Parking the tractor with the front sloping downwards will also help you to drain the gearbox better.

drain the gearbox on a flat level surface. and be sure also to drain the plug on the pump plate the you will get all the oil out.
