Hi all, i have just signed up and have to say i'm glad i found the forum!

I am due to pick up my new project this week, its a late spec 3545 wiith one owner from new! :D
I'm used to Zetors having been around them on the farm since i was born, we have a 6911, used to have a 7011 and still own a 7245.

One thing i would like to know as i have been told so many different stories about the 4wd system on the 3545/5545's is can they work in only one speed range and which one if so?

The front axle drives @ high range speed only regardless whether high or low range is engaged.

Ahh i see, that clears it up - Thanks Alan[smiley=happy3].

So just out of curiosity why did they manufacture them in that way and not for both speed ranges, was it just a matter of costs? As i seem to recall our 7245 was advised only to be in 4wd in the lower gears in high range is this the same for the 3545 too?

I've been trying to find out as much info as possible for the 3545's and i've gotta say it hasn't been easy (probably looking in the wrong places ;) ).

i own a restored 3545 andits a lovely little thing. you must only use the 4wd in high range. if its used in low range the front axle will try and pull itself of the tractor. usually something will go bang!! and if it does go bang your in for fun as parts for the front axle are getting like hens teeth.

heres a pic of mine btw

Wow Matt that looks absolutely cracking - nice work!
Have you got any more pics?

I notice you have a later type plastic front grille, did you change it? I am due to take delivery of my 3545 thursday so i cant wait now! A friend of mine remembers seeing one when brand new on a local ploughing demo near whittlesey (cambs) and it made many bigger tractors look very silly - for example a new Ford 5000!!! ;)

The 3045 had front wheel drive in high range only, because the 4wd cardan was driven off the high/low range secondary shaft, which means that it only ran at non-reduced speed.

Later models had an extra gear, idling on the secondary shaft. This gearwheel didnt transfer torque to the lower shaft, just transferring from the upper gearwheel to the dropbox gear. This idler gear was driven from the upper shaft that also drives the rear axle pinion.

when i got the tractor the front was badly damaged infact the front section was missing. at the time i couldnt find the original type front. the type that is fitted is from a 4911. also we made the mudguards for it. as the new replacments are around 650 and at the time i was 16-17 and couldnt afford it. tyres on the front were also a hell of a job to find. we ended up having to go to a retailer and beg them, and fair play they imported a pair direct from china.

anything else you want to know pm me
