Hi,
We've recently bought a 6245 and used it for a few weeks and been generally very happy with it.
A couple of days ago the gearbox started whining very loud but only intermittently. It was first noticed when traveling on the road, now it whines all the time in all gears with the clutch deppressed and even in nutral, getting gradually louder and faster in relation to traveling speed.
We then noticed that the small selector for high and low range at the side of the pto selector had become jamed and wouldn't move back in to neutral. After snatching the clutch abit whilst in gear the selector eventually came free alowing low or high to be selected normaly. The gearbox then sounded normal again for a short while, then started whining again, the selector was found to be jammed again and the same has happened over and over, you can now only drive a few feet untill the whining starts and the high/low selector jams.
The tractor has only done about 3000h and had been stood for quite a while when we bought it.
Has any had a similar problem?
Thanks for your help.
Alzet is correct, it's in 4wd. I think the post means it still whines
if the clutch is dipped or its put out of gear while it's still moving.
Make sure the 4wd lever is in its up position and turned to lock it there to be out of 4wd
Thanks for your help guys, You were right about the 4wd.
The lever was dropping in on its own, it won't seem to lock in the up position, only down, so was thinking about putting a stronger spring on to hold it out of gear.
We've had a range of Zetors over the years but this is the first 4wd we've had.
Panic over. Cheers.
When you lift the 4wd lever there should be a spring that holds the lever turned so that it can't drop. Have a look under the floor between the air tank and the gearbox. this is not the spring on the rod, but a smaller one that runs horizontally.
Hi , if you remove the nut on the bottom of the 4wd lever and add a slightly larger nut as a spacer then replace the nut this will increace the spring tension and disengage the 4wd ,i had the same on my 7245 and this worked ,also spray a little wd40 on the shaft where it enters the side of the tractor , it also helps .
thanks martin
