Next on the long list of problems the 5211 doesnt seem to want to do anything I have tried all lever combinations and nothing works other than when the lever is set to PTO only and the tractor in 540 sometimes the PTO turns very very slowly but I am able to stop it very easily by hand. As for the hydraulics... nothing not even a little shake to make me think its even trying to work!

Anybody know where to even start to slove this problem? Or alternatively anybody looking for a new tractor? This is the first and certainly the last zetor to ever set foot on my yard!

Its the spring pin connecting the lever to the shaft that goes into the gearbox lid that gets you confused. Replace it so you get a sure feel of what you're shifting, and can also engage the oil pump only drive as its the lowest position which cannot be engaged with a sloppy rollpin because the lever hits the floor board first...

Oh and read the operators manual because i get a feeling that you dont have a clue...

Where is it located ? USA ? Sounds like a great opportunity to me... ;)

But why would that mean no pto or hydraulics? surely it would just be difficult to shift? Mine shifts but nothing happens. Could you possible give me a little more info on what I am exactly looking for?

I read the opperators manual and maybe the aftermarket versions are better but my 1989 origional is probably only useful for toilet paper. The descriptions are very vague and the pictures are unidentifiable.

Its only in Germany behinde Hannover and not too far from the A2. It would be a nice day trip for you Renze :D

So what do you want for it ? PM me... I'll have it up and running within between 15 minutes and a day, depending on if its just the operating lever fooling you, a clogged pump suction screen or a bent shift fork.

Can you feel the notches when shifting any of the 4 positions of the lever ? Does yours have 540/1000rpm PTO, and where do you put that selection lever ? If you dont engage either 540 or 1000rpm it wont drive the oil pump either, you shift the PTO to neutral putting the left side small lever all the way down so the oil pump is still driven.

If you take off the center tunnel cover you can look at the shift lever of the PTO and watch if there is any play between the lever and the 15mm shaft it should rotate. Thats usually the problem.

When shifting you can quite easily feel all four positions and if I am correct forward is pto then comes neutral then PTO and hydraulic pump then finally (nearest the seat) would be just the hydraulic pump. I can feel all these positions clearly. However sometimes have trouble selecting the furthest 2 postions.

I have the model with the extra shaft for 1000pto speed where the different pto gears are selected by twisting a plastic cap to the left for 540 and to the right for 1000 and neutral being in the middle under the plastic cap is then the shaft for the 1000 speed. all three postions on this selector are also noticable and easy to engage.

On first inspections every thing seems to engage but nothing functions this is why i am confused. there are many reasons for one opperation or the other not working but if everything engages it seems strange that both do not react. Maybe I should first look undernieth the lever to see if they really are engaging as they should.

The strange thing is it all worked before I bought it, I saw it working on a feeder wagon before I paid for it. I had been used every day to feed youngstock and was only replaced because they bought a new feeder wagon that required more hydraulic spool valves than the little Zetor had to offer then it stood for a year in my workshop and doesnt seem to work. Maybe an oil change and filter clean would help ?

About price I would feel bad even trying to sell it. the tractor owes me too much money as it is. I think I mentioned on here before I paid way too much for it to start with and now having invested more money in it I doubt I will ever get anywhere near my money back. The problem is these small tractors are so hard to come by here in east germany and bring high prices and i thought better to buy local for a bit more money than go driving round europe and end up buying scrap but my logic didnt work out as i planned. Especially as a month after I bought It I found a guy selling a Case mx 135 with front loader for 16 000 euros!

Have you asked the previous owner for help ?

Yes but the mechanic doesnt seem to have all that much interest now the tractor isnt his problem. I drive their combine and drill machine for them so I know them well but they all say the tractor was fine and that it should work fine..... basically no useful infomation.

Im going to try to check the shifting parts like you said and then change the hyraulic oil and filters to see if that changes anything. But then I gues the hydraulics have no impact on the pto? Where as the hydraulic pump can only work if the PTO is in gear so the problem would normally be a problem with the pto?

Yes indeed, if your PTO doesnt work either, its not the oil pump.
