Problem with clutch & 3 point lift Zetor 3011

I have a 1967 Zetor 330 (3011) which I bought from my 80 year old french neighbour who originally bought it new.

I only use it for light work, that is, trundling about carrying tools in the rear box and giving the grandchildren rides around my 3 acres.

After a day of using it to give rides around the garden, with clutch and rear lift working ok, I parked it up. The next day the rear lift refused to work and the clutch was difficult to clear (gears grating). Now it is impossible to select a gear with engine running, I have to select crawler gear and start it in gear to move about. I can get the rear lift to operate but I have to play with high/low ratio, PTO and generally fiddle about until it works.
I have now bought a workshop manual and can see that it has a double clutch assembly and that the rear lift uses the gearbox oil for its hydraulics.
The pedal adjustment is correct (now) and the oil level is correct.
I have changed many clutches on cars and vans over the years and so can see that changing this one shouldn't be so difficult but would like to continue with my quiet retirement without the need to remove the clutch if I can help it.
Can anybody suggest something that might avoid me having to split the mechanics and no I don't know the french for "How long is this tractor guaranteed for mate"

Check the PTO engagement lever is down for live PTO/hydraulics it is likley someone has moved it

there is a plate on the LH side of the gearbox, 2 x 6mm bolts hold it on, take that off and check the hard hats (pivot points) through the side, if you check them you may find one broke or split, you can change these through the side, this would give the symptoms of grinding gears.

Thanks to Alan and Orange for your replies.
Alan.
I have checked the PTO operation and it looks, from the diagram on the fuse cover, as if there are 5 positions for this lever. No1 is reduced speed PTO, stationary. No 2 blank. No 3 Neutral. No 4 PTO using gears. No 5 ? using gears. I think that I have used all of these possibilities in order to achieve a result but with no success.
Have I read this fuse cover description correctly?

Orange.
I have already looked through the plate mentioned to view the operation and it looks to me as if it is working ok as there is clearance between the metal plates when the clutch is depressed.

The only other controls that I have found that I don't as yet know exactly what they do are.
No1. On the right side by the lift and draught levers is a metal lever fitted vertically going into the casing that I think may be some sort of pressure reducing control.
No2. Under the front of the seat is a lever working horizontally which I have no idea what it is for. Behind it is a bolt with a long stud fitted to it that screws down into the casing that again is a bit of a mystery to me.

To all.
The only other things that have ocurred to me are that, and here I think I am clutching at straws, could the foot operated diff lock be stuck in or could one of the clutch plates be stuck.

Don't give up on me folks, I am not really an imbecile.

As a last resort I may just trundle up to the village to see the previous owner to see if he can offer a suggestion.
I only hope he doesn't stand in front of me when I try to whip it out of gear to bring it to a halt!!!!!:D

Hi

Assuming that the arrangement of levers is the same as in mine (mine's a 6945) the lever No 1. that you mention is probably the control for external hydraulics (eg for tipping trailer etc), and the horizontal lever under the seat controls the oil flow to the lift arms. I can't remember which way is which at the moment but one way and the arms will raise really quickly, and the other way and they will come up slowly.

I have read that this valve actually apportions oil flow between the 3pt lift arms and the external hydraulics, but from my observations it only appears to affect the 3pt lift arms.

Hope this helps a bit.

Have you been able to make any progress yet with your tractor problems?

Yes folks its true, there is a god, and Orange has a direct line and was absolutely blooming correct in his diagnosis about the hard hats.
Despite my scepticsm as to whether it was the cause I dismantled one of the pivot arms and found the hard hat split. I was able to purchase new ones at my local village garage and hey presto all tickety-boo. I am not sure about the 3 point lift problem as with a bit of fiddling that also seems to be working OK.
So I am now a happy bunny;)

Thanks also to Artic for his concise explanation on the 2 levers which may explain why the 3 point arms now go up and down.
