Properly Attaching Implements

It occurred to me that I may not be properly attaching my 3 point implements.

When attaching a mower to my 3320 should I "lock" the arms so they have no lateral movement? That's what I've been doing but after thinking about it and seeing the various pin options I have to wonder if I'm doing this properly.

Any advise is appreciated.

I lock the arms when I use a disc mower on my 7711, but I'm no expert. I've never thought that it was a good idea for all that weight to swing free and always on other tractors with chain stays I took up all the slack possible.

The pin position that allows lateral movement (the long oval hole) is for ploughing.

I asked this very question when I purchased my 7441. The dealer is mows pipeline right-of-ways on contract and his was reply was to "lock it up".

Just lock it up to save your tires !! We have several drag holes in the sidewalls of the tire, caused by the eye of the stabiliser pin, that peels rubber of my tires when the chains are too loose.

All the bouncing cant be any good either, plus the noise annoys me so i lock them up as often as possible.

For certain jobs i like some play, like cultivating. It if it's locked up, steering wont help and you'll drag just straight ahead ;)
