did the transmission 2 winters ago. The slave cylinder of the brakes failed last week, and i decided to finally put in the engine parts too, once its in the shed and i have holiday.

Connecting rod wear in 11.000 hrs was not measurable by vernier with nonius.. Both bearing shells, new and old, measured 1.95mm.
All it looked different, was the shiny new one and the pale surface of the old one.
Liner wear could be felt by scratching a fingernail over the ridge, but not with the tip of a finger.

Because i need to replace the gaskets anyways, i will replace the main bearings because they are already payd for. But this engine would be able to do another period of 43 years and 11.000 hrs on its current bearings and liners, if i deglazed them and put some new piston rings in them.
However, i dont have deglazing tools nor experience, and i had all parts at hand (ordered them over a year ago)
Also no sign of cavitation at all...

This is my first shortblock rebuild, (only done heads so far) so i'm learning on the go..

Sorry i didnt take pictures...

Does anyone know the torque settings for the M14 head studs ? I only have a manual for the 5245 with M16 head studs.

btw thanks to a tip of a dealer, i will change the rear oil slinger ring, a screw type "seal" not really a seal but a screw that screws oil (and dirt) back into the engine, by the rear cover plus Gufero seal from the 5511 which is used on all models up to the 97' Super series.

Torque settings for the M14 head studs 142-155 Nm (105-114lbs/ft)
